Harnessing the Power of Plant Biology
To help growers stay ahead of disease.
Dedicated to serving greenhouse growers since 1983.
The start: Patented systemic developed at the University of Minnesota
At its start, the patented chemistry that became Phyton 27 was developed at the University of Minnesota to fight Dutch elm disease, which had all but decimated Dutch elm trees in many parts of the United States and other countries.
How it works: Translocation and the Silver Bullet
Taking advantage of a plant’s natural process of translocation, scientists developed a systemic product that would be carried up, down, and across the entire tree—from the leaves to the roots—by the tree’s vascular system. This technology would prove effective in other plants, and growers soon nicknamed Phyton 27 the silver bullet because it works when other chemicals fail. A formula labeled for food crops, Phyton 35, was later developed to meet demand.
NEW BEGINNINGS
Phyton acquired by Seacole Specialty Chemical
In 2021, Phyton Corporation was acquired by Seacole Specialty Chemical, a diversified chemical manufacturing and distribution company. Thanks to the research and development capabilities, expertise, and other resources Seacole has to offer, Phyton looks forward to a bright future continuing to serve greenhouse growers with the reliable, beneficial products they need to grow and ship healthy plants.
